![]() | This volume is presented as a companion to the study Our Identification with Christ, covering much that was not in that original seminar. These five studies consider the following:
Identification with Christ and Intimacy with God: We see that God wants us to come into the secret place of His presence. In that presence, we see the greatness of the glory of God that was in Christ and is now in us. This study also covers the fellowship with Jesus Christ that we now enjoy and his relationship today as the head to his body.
Grace and Our Identification with Christ: Just as Israel had received the blessings of God because of who they were in Abraham, we now enjoy the favor of God because of who we are in Christ. We minister as laborers by this grace of God because we have entered into God's rest. The manifestation of speaking in tongues is the proof that we have entered into that rest. In our first birth we are identified with the first Adam, while in the new birth we are identified with the last Adam. We received the consequences of sin, death and condemnation in the first Adam, while we receive grace, gift, righteousness, acquittal and life in Christ. We receive God's grace by faith and that gives us victory over sin and enables us to reign in life.
Freedom and Our Identification with Christ covers topics including the freedom we have because of the finished work of Jesus Christ, freedom from the guilt of sin and from the power of sin to defeat us in our daily living, freedom from legalism and religion, and freedom from sickness and disease. Most importantly, we now have freedom to walk by the spirit from God for "where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty" (2 Corinthians 3:17).
Freedom from Darkness and Our Identification with Christ addresses how works-based religion, which propounds to be truth, has actually turned many from the true God and opened the door for many devil spirits. This study takes a detailed look from the Word of God at Satan and his kingdom and how he operates. The devil and his hosts, who make up the devil spirit realm, are called "the rulers of the darkness of this world" in Ephesians 6:12. The whole world is under their power and control. The Bible shows how they gained dominion over the world and how Jesus came to give us freedom from their dominion and the legal rights over the devil and evil spirits. As those who are identified with Christ, we share in his victory and his exaltation as head over all principalities and powers, including these rulers of the darkness.
The concluding study, Faith and Our Identification with Christ addresses the scriptural usage of the word "faith" and particularly "the faith of Jesus Christ." Why does Hebrews 11 use the word "faith" twenty times to describe Old Testament believers and yet Galatians 3:23 states "before faith came." This study explains the uniqueness of the faith of Jesus Christ and its great significance for all believers.
Paul wrote in Galatians 2:20: "I was crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." This takes us into the heart of faith and our identification with Christ, the beginner and finisher of our faith.
